Ten Common Resume Writing Mistakes

Below are some of the mistakes I have seen as a professional resume writer.

  1. Grammatical errors and spelling mistakes

  2. Lack of tailoring for a specific role

  3. A resume that is too long – or too short

  4. Using cliches and excessively descriptive language

  5. Lying about skills and roles you’ve held in the past

  6. Incorrect formatting and layout

  7. Illegible font choices

  8. Having an inappropriate email address

  9. Incorrect contact details

  10. Excluding essential keywords – or having too many.
