Creating My Resume in Canva: Should I or Shouldn’t I?
While resumes written on Canva look attractive on the outside, and are quick, easy and free to make, they can be disastrous to your job-hunting efforts.
Canva has hundreds of templates that people without graphic design knowledge can use. One of the biggest issues is that Canva resumes won’t pass Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS). This is because it uses multiple fonts, headshots and graphics that confuse the system.
Not only that, but Canva resume templates leave out vital information that needs to be included in your resume. The templates tend to only be one page while most modern resumes are now two pages, on average. Recruiters and employers often prefer a two-page resume and, unless you’re a graphic design genius, it may take some fiddling to get a duplicate page that is in the same format as the first – not to mention incredibly time-consuming.
You are better off using a professional resume writer.
